Writing for the stage is at the heart of my theatre practice. Since 2013, I have written 10 plays which have been produced ranging from intimate monologues through adaptations of classic plays to large-cast community plays.
A brief description of some of the highlights of my work to date can be found below. If you’d like to read about all of my work then please feel free to get in touch and I can send over a copy of my full CV.
Happiness Ltd (2018)
Written and developed with support from Theatre Royal Plymouth, Happiness Ltd took an incisive look at the mental health crisis through the irreverent lens of video games.
A co-production between New Model Theatre and The Bike Shed Theatre, Happiness Ltd was directed by Jo Newman and premiered at The Bike Shed Theatre, Exeter before touring to Theatre Royal Plymouth, Salisbury Playhouse, The Wardrobe Theatre, Bristol and the New Diorama Theatre, London.
One of three new plays created as part of Outpost 2016 and set amid the turmoil of the Junior Doctor strikes of 2016, Foundations grappled with class, politics and identity in post-financial crash, post-austerity and post-Brexit Britain.
Directed by myself, Foundations was performed by the New Model Theatre Rep Company in the Outpost pop-up theatre venue in Plymouth’s historic Royal William Yard.
My first full-length play, Static was an intimate monologue about coming-of-age in a highly-mediated world. Epic in scale, it followed the life of one young man from watching the World Trade Centre fall in 2001 to participating in the storming of Millbank Tower during the student protests in London in 2011.
Static was developed with support from the Barbican Theatre, Plymouth where it premiered before touring to The Bike Shed Theatre, the Kings Arms Salford, the Etcetera Theatre, London and the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
