Following a huge increase in the amount of theatre being made in Plymouth, I was asked by Theatre Royal Plymouth to curate a season of work for their brand-new studio space, The Lab. The season was hugely successful and contributed to the growing momentum behind theatre in Plymouth.
In June, Plymouth’s theatre-makers stormed Exeter’s Ignite festival, leading Theatre Royal Plymouth to ask Tom Nicholas to curate a selection of the finest productions from the city’s emerging and established companies.
In July, Theatre Royal Plymouth presented the first ever Forge season: seven experimental and exciting new pieces. A hopeless radio show, explorations of Jewish heritage, technological revolutions, tales of unemployment, a crazy week of Robin Thicke and ignoring your energy supplier: Forge was a unique opportunity to experience inventive new work in an intimate new venue.
